Uganda Airlines Launches Entebbe-Accra Flights to Boost African Connectivity

Uganda Airlines is expanding its footprint in West Africa with the launch of flights connecting Entebbe International Airport to Accra, Ghana, beginning Tuesday, October 27, 2026, in a move aimed at strengthening regional connectivity and opening new opportunities for trade, tourism and investment.

The national carrier will operate four flights weekly on the route, with a stopover in Lagos, Nigeria, using a Boeing 737-800 aircraft leased from Ethiopian Airlines.

The new service provides travellers with an additional option between Uganda and Ghana, where existing connections have largely routed passengers through other regional aviation hubs. It is also expected to strengthen business and cultural ties between East and West Africa.

Improved air connectivity could make it easier for businesspeople, investors, tourists and families to travel between the two countries. The route is also expected to support commercial partnerships and improve access to markets across the continent.

For Uganda’s tourism sector, the connection offers an opportunity to promote the country’s wildlife, nature and cultural attractions to more West African travellers. Ghanaian visitors could explore destinations such as Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, while Ugandan travellers gain another option for accessing Accra’s commercial and cultural centres.

The route also aligns with broader African efforts to strengthen intra-continental trade and economic cooperation under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

The launch forms part of Uganda Airlines’ wider strategy to strengthen Entebbe’s position as a regional aviation hub, connecting passengers travelling between African destinations and onward international markets.

The airline has advertised a promotional return fare of approximately US$550, although ticket prices and conditions may vary.

As Uganda Airlines expands its network, the success of the new route will depend on passenger demand, reliable operations and its ability to attract both business and leisure travellers.

The Entebbe–Accra service marks another step in efforts to improve air links between East and West Africa, with the potential to support tourism, trade and stronger people-to-people connections across the continent.
