Pastor Daniel Mukuye Urges Christians to Return to Prayer: “It Is Time to Pray!”

While preaching at Makerere Full Gospel Church today, Pastor Daniel Mukuye urged Christians to remain steadfast in prayer, emphasising that whether they have stopped praying or remained consistent, now is the time to seek God.

Drawing from Revelation 2:7 and Zechariah 10:1, the sermon reminds believers not to grow weary in prayer, but to seek God for mercy, healing, wisdom, help and spiritual direction.

“Not been praying? It is time to pray. Been praying? Don’t slack in prayer,” Pastor Mukuye urged.

Using the story of blind Bartimaeus in Mark 10:47-48, Pastor Mukuye illustrated the importance of crying out to God even when circumstances or people attempt to silence us. Despite being rebuked by the crowd, Bartimaeus cried out even louder for Jesus to have mercy on him.

The preacher reminded believers that God hears their cries and encouraged them not to suffer silently or give up in difficult seasons.

“Our God is not a deaf God. Don’t die in pain. Cry out to the Lord.”

The sermon also drew lessons from Mordecai’s distress in Esther 4:1–3, highlighting the importance of recognising danger and responding through prayer rather than remaining silent when things go wrong.

Reflecting on Esther’s response to Mordecai, Pastor Mukuye challenged Christians to wake up spiritually and recognise the needs around them.

He called for prayer and intercession for Uganda, the Church, families and communities, urging believers to look beyond their personal struggles and stand in prayer for others.

Esther 4:15–16 demonstrates how Esther called for fasting before approaching the king, despite the danger she faced. Her example highlights the importance of courage, unity and dependence on God during difficult moments.

Drawing from Daniel 2:15–19, the preacher explained how Daniel responded to a life-threatening situation by seeking time and asking his companions to pray for God’s mercy. The mystery was subsequently revealed to Daniel during the night.

Pastor Mukuye encouraged believers to turn to God when facing difficult decisions, unanswered questions and seemingly impossible situations, rather than relying solely on human understanding.

He also challenged couples to stop blaming one another during difficult seasons and instead unite in prayer, stressing that prayer can strengthen relationships and help families face challenges together.

The sermon further explored Isaiah 36–37, recounting how King Hezekiah responded to threats from the Assyrian king Sennacherib.

Rather than allowing intimidation to dictate his response, Hezekiah sought God in prayer and presented the threatening letter before the Lord.

Pastor Mukuye urged Christians to follow this example by bringing their burdens, fears and challenges before God.

“Our weapons are not carnal. We don’t fight on social media; we fight on our knees,” he emphasised.

Hezekiah’s story served as a reminder that prayer is an expression of trust, unwavering faith and complete dependence on God.

Pastor Mukuye highlighted six key lessons for believers:

  1. Do not rely on yourself alone: Invite God into your challenges and seek His guidance.
  2. Be persistent: Continue praying, even when answers seem delayed.
  3. Do not despise prayer: Trust that God hears and that prayer remains central to the Christian life.
  4. Know your God: Remember His power and remain confident in His ability to help.
  5. Choose faith over fear: Do not exalt any person, power or spiritual threat above God.
  6. Seek support when weak: Ask fellow believers to stand with you in prayer.

He further encouraged Christians to pray beyond themselves by interceding for friends, extended families, the Church, Uganda, Africa and the world.

The central message of Pastor Daniel Mukuye’s sermon is a call to renewed prayer, perseverance and collective intercession. Through the examples of Esther, Daniel, Bartimaeus and Hezekiah, believers are reminded to turn to God in moments of distress, uncertainty and danger.

Whether seeking personal breakthroughs or praying for others, Christians are encouraged not to give up but to remain steadfast in faith.

“It is time to pray. Please pray. Keep praying.”

May God strengthen His people and guide them as they seek Him in prayer.
